Cluster-based pre-scaling of improved wheat technologies in western Oromia: A case study in western Oromia, Ethiopia

Wheat is widely grown in Ethiopia although production levels have not met the demand and price instability. One of gaps that modern varieties cover a small portion total area occupied by wheat. Through use superior wheat technologies pre-scaling up, project aimed to boost productivity for small-scale farmers. Two varieties, Liban Senate, were pre-scaled up three zones western Oromia. 147 farmers addressed ten PA six districts. The was approximately 81 hectares. Yield disease data collected, as well farmers' perceptions interests. Thus, with an average mean 4.5 tonsha-1 4.9 tonsha-1, respectively, both types, performed better terms yield. However, compared Senate variety, variety demonstrated lower response numerous diseases. In order sustainably increase yield, scaling out larger community across sites needs be strengthened.
